At the end of August, aviation enthusiasts from the Rhineland and Bergisches Land will be able to take off in style like never before: A Junkers F13 will be performing sightseeing flights over the region at the airfield festival organized by Luftsportclub Bayer. Leverkusen was by no means chosen by chance. “The Kurtekotten airfield is one of the most beautiful of its size in Germany and ideal for us,” explains Bernd Huckenbeck, Chairman of the Junkers Luftverkehr association, through which the sightseeing flights are organized and offered. There is room for two passengers in the historically accurate replica of the world’s first all-metal commercial aircraft. And it’s extremely comfortable too, because unlike the cockpit, its cabin is closed – pilot and co-pilot experience a special kind of convertible feeling during the flight.
