Take off too! What distinguishes ultralight aircraft …
Ultralight aircraft – ULAs for short – are impressive due to their lightweight construction and easy handling. In Europe, they are allowed to have a maximum take-off weight of up to 600 kilograms. Common types include aerodynamically controlled three-axis aircraft, trikes and motorized hang gliders. Ultralight aircraft are limited to a maximum of two people. To increase safety in an emergency, an overall rescue system is mandatory in Germany.
… is perfected by Junkers!
As a manufacturer, we make optimum use of the European regulations with our ultralight aircraft and integrate them into machines that have class and style. We integrate powerful engines, modern technology for maximum comfort and precise safety systems for the protection of pilots and passengers into the permitted take-off weight.
Why you should buy an ultralight aircraft from Junkers
In addition to the relatively low cost of purchasing an ultralight aircraft, the machines also impress with their low operating costs. To fly an ultralight aircraft in Germany, you need a sports pilot licence (SPL) with the corresponding authorisation for ultralight aircraft as well as the registered passenger authorisation. This licence is specifically designed to meet the requirements of ultralight pilots and requires fewer hours of training than other flying licences. It offers a cost-effective and practical introduction to flying.
Please observe the applicable laws in your country.
In principle, the German sports pilot license allows you to carry passengers in ultralight aircraft, provided you can prove that you have the necessary experience. In Germany, for example, at least ten hours of flight experience are required after obtaining the license. Always check the specific legal requirements of your country.
The maintenance of your Junkers ultralight aircraft must be carried out regularly in accordance with our instructions as the manufacturer and the maintenance list of the engine manufacturer (ROTAX). The aircraft must be serviced at intervals of approx. 50 – 100 hours. In addition, expiry periods (TBOs: Time Bewteen Overhaul) must be observed. For engines, this is usually 1,500 – 2,000 flying hours. We are happy to assist you as a reliable partner to guarantee you the best possible service and maximum safety.
Ultralight aircraft can be housed in hangars at airfields or in special lightweight hangars. Due to their compact size, they require less space than conventional aircraft. Mobile hangars also offer flexible solutions for smaller airfields.
Ultralight aircraft offer flexibility in terms of take-off and landing locations, as they can also use smaller airfields. They enable direct routes without detours and are cheaper to operate than larger aircraft. They also offer a unique perspective and freedom when traveling.
Ultralight aircraft are designed for visual flight conditions (VFR) and can fly in good weather. This means that there must be no fog, freezing rain or heavy snowfall. The absolute minimum visual flight conditions are 1.5 km in lower airspace and approx. 5 km above ground with 1.5 km distance to clouds (at approx. 800 – 1,000 m altitude).
